New Collection

A milestone collection — and a number worth celebrating. It started with a casual question from a fellow Benartex designer to Nadelstern — one of those offhand remarks you don't expect to set off a chain of thought. She asked how many collections she'd designed for Benartex over the years. Paula wasn't sure, so she sat down and counted. The answer? Thirty.

Part of Paula Nadelstern's landmark Thirty-One collection for Benartex, Wingspan is a stunning showcase of her signature kaleidoscopic design aesthetic. "The elegant Wing Span motifs are evocative and gorgeous, a revisit of a beloved older pattern refined to perfection. Painterly effects of dark and light create movement, suggest depth, and bring vibrant energy to any finished artwork", says Paula Nadelstern.

 Rendered in a rich palette of blues and coordinating multicolors, this print plays with light and symmetry to produce the illusion of sweeping, luminous wings in motion. The complex, almost psychedelic patterns captivate the viewer, with organic shapes and stylized forms seeming to move in an endless dance, creating fascinating depth and vibrancy. The symmetrical arrangement of elements creates a feeling of harmony and balance. The colors are, ochre gold, marigold, turquoise, cobalt blue, amethyst, and azure blue, on a black  background, creating a striking contrast perfect for kaleidoscope quilting. The fabric pattern is Wingspan from Thirty-One by Paula Nadelstern for Benartex Fabrics, Pattern 16562 color 55 blue/multi. Finished dimension for all blocks sewn together is 24 X 32 inches. Each block measures 8 1/2 inches square when sewn. Our Fast and Easy Blooming Blocks© are cut from 100 percent cotton fabric. Each block in the set will be uniquely different due to layering the fabric in exact repeats to create a kaleidoscope effect by precisely rotary cutting them.They are specially cut so that the centers will lie flatter and so there is no bias on the edges of the block so they lie flat in your quilt.
