Maria Kalinowski for Kanvas

Maria Kalinowski is the creative force behind Kanvas, a new division of Benartex which features novelty prints and more. If you’ve been in the fabric world, chances are you are already familiar with Maria. For the past 14 years, her fabric prints have delighted collectors, manufacturers and designers. From food, to race cars to rock stars, Maria’s eye for subject and color has provided quilt shops some of the most unique and best-loved prints in the industry. Her designs have graced the covers of Women’s Wear Daily and People magazine and have even appeared in music videos.

A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, Maria comes from a long line of creative talent beginning with her grandparents who immigrated to the U.S. and established a successful dress design business in the 1940s. Today, Maria’s inspiration comes from the energized streets of NYC, as well as the serenity of her Connecticut home. Her innovative designs makes it easy to say: “There’s no place like Kanvas!”

One of the most spectacular Autumn fabric collections you’ll ever see. Autumn Splendor has lush autumn florals, leaves, swirls, and textures all beautifully touched in metallic gold. The printing on these fabrics is simply superb, and the colors have all the rich patina of real Autumn leaves in a border print design.This is a classic collection, perfect for celebrating the season. Colors include black, burgundy, rust, gold and green, all lightly etched in metallic gold. This is a kit to make 12 kaleidoscope blocks.  Finished dimension for all blocks sewn together is 24 X 32 inches. The corners are included. Each block measures 8 1/2 inches square when sewn. Our Fast and Easy Blooming Blocks© are cut from 100 percent cotton fabric. Each block in the set will be uniquely different due to layering the fabric in exact repeats to create a kaleidoscope effect by precisely rotary cutting them.They are specially cut so that the centers will lie flatter and so there is no bias on the edges of the block so they lie flat in your quilt.
